Clean sweep for our Under 10 Girls!

Go-ride SE Interclub Competition - Round 2

On Saturday, 1st November, ten Sutton Cycling Club / De Ver Cycles riders took to the start line in miserable weather to compete in Round 2 of the Go-Ride Interclub Competition, hosted by Herne Hill Youth CC.

The Under 8s do not have their own Category in this competition, and have to race with the Under 10s. In the first race, four of our seven riders were U8s, including Gemma Heath, who with an amazing ride scooped 1st Girl. Connie Godden backed her up, securing 2nd Girl. An excellent clean sweep for the Club!

The Under 12s set off at the same time as the Under 10s, but did an extra lap and were judged separately. Max Haining, our only Under 12 rider, had a hard-fought first cyclo-cross battle and was narrowly beaten to 4th place.

In the second race, the Under 14s rode at the same time as the Under 16s, but again they were judged separately. Riding against very experienced cyclo, cross riders, our U16s Jack Haining and Matt Godden came a respectable 4th and 7th overall, securing 2nd and 3rd as Under 16s.

Full race results are posted up at Northey Avenue, but we are still awaiting confirmation of the Interclub Competition points, as some riders may not have been from Go-Ride Clubs.

Well done to everyone who rode for the Club - excellent to see so many of you out racing in the rain, a real cyclo-x experience!
